Bowls are played in many ways, for example, simply striking the bowl on the outer edge lightly. Placing the bowl on your hand, and applying even pressure on the outside rim of the bowl in a clockwise circular manner. Or filling it with water and placing it on a steady base and applying pressure on the outer edge in a circular motion. Placing it on the hand and playing is the most traditional and recommended method to achieve the calming effects of the bowl.
